I recently had an encounter in my bathroom by a spider that dropped down on to my hand while trying to move a shower curtian liner in the bath tub away.
I am trying to properly indentify the spider. Above the bath/shower tub is an attic access panel door to heater blower units, I believe this could be considered aggressive defence and could bit me. I used green alcohol to stun the spider in the tub and then smashed it with a rolled up newpaper.
A year ago I purchased a house that was built in the 50's and renovated it. During the construction I saw a few yellow sac spiders, however, this past fall we were inundated with them. I have been fogging with flea/tick bombs and vacuuming like a mad woman. Things are better, but I am still finding 4-5 live ones every day. I suspect that they are living in a void in the ceiling and entering through the cracks in the redwood tongue-in-groove ceiling. I am thinking of drywalling the ceilings to provide a cleanable surface, but I want to kill all the spiders first. The IPM website talks about using a silica gel product along with pyrethrins, but I cannot find a service provider who knows what that is. Can you please advise me on how to get rid of these pests once and for all.
